2019 Year 6 China Trip to Jingling Experiment Primary

This  page includes the following details Travel Itinerary and Travel Journal Brochure. The students will write a brief introduction about self, family, school life and Melbourne. Other details include preparations for China Trip and Chinese culture such as how to use chopsticks,  special food and tourism in Nanjing and Shanghai, and Chinese checker.

The students will practise daily language, talk about their life in Australia,  create travel brochure and learn to fill out visa forms. 

 Chinese History

During Term 2, the prep students have developed the skills in pinyin and they apply the skills to learn the  story book “Three Little Pigs (sān zhī xiǎo zhū) They also develop the skills to confidently and independently follow instructions to use IPad and online Chinese software learning programs for listening and speaking skills, drawing on Key Concepts of Communications, Connections and Culture. Practising the writings of Chinese characters, and comparing the similarities and differences between strokes, radicals and characters is essential in Chinese language study. Students will further develop their skills to improve the tones and accent in pronunciation. They will also learn the poems and songs about Dragon Boat Fastival (duān wǔ jié), Color Songs (yán sè gē), The Mother Crocodile Laying Eggs (è yú māma shēng bǎo bǎo) and Song of Month and Week (yuè fèn gē he xīng qī gē)

 

Conclusion and Reflection

Cultural aspects include Chinese New Year, Chinese modern technology, facts about China, Chinese native animals. During the course, students will concentrate on organisation and self-management skills throughout their approaches to learning.
